Below, you will find some general information about the Claremore Chess Adventure Chess Club. Please let us know if you have any questions! Enrollment has begun! Enrollment forms will be available at our first meeting or you can print out a copy of the enrollment form (Word format).
Claremore Club Members

Arrival:
Name tags will be ready when you arrive. Please turn your name tag back in when you leave!

Clean up:
Before leaving, please throw away all trash and set up chess boards so that pieces can easily be verified and bagged. Then bag the chess sets and put away all the other equipment and supplies.

Pick Up:
DO NOT leave the building without a parent. The club ends at 4:45.

Room Equipment:
Please do not play with the large demo boards unless directed by one of the instructors or parents. Take care of our clocks!!

Parents:
We have an open door policy and welcome your help and interest!! Please feel free to come in and watch or help at any time. We are limited only by the room capacity. Parents are very much welcome.

Schedule:
3:15-3:40 Students arrive and help set up. Tables will be available for ‘skittles’ (informal games of chess).
3:40-4:40 Instruction and paired games
4:40-4:45 Clean up and store equipment.

Location:
We will meet at Legacy Christian School (107 E Will Rogers Blvd). The school phone number: 342-1450.

Snow Days:

Yearly Calendar:
We will meet each Friday for the months of September through the first week of March except for school holidays. Legacy Christian School follows the Claremore Public School calendar.

Competition:
The main goal for this club is to have fun playing chess. When you lose a game, congratulate your opponent. Think through the game and try to learn from mistakes. When you win, encourage your opponent.

Funds:
All funds will be used for equipment, activities, snacks and learning materials. We have incorporated as a non-profit and Joe Deal is our treasurer. Everyone in Chess Adventure and in Oklahoma Scholastic Chess Organization is a volunteer. Yearly dues for our chess club are $25 for the first child and $15 for each sibling.

Please look over the following rules:
Take your name tag when you arrive
Notify an adult if leaving the chess room to get a drink or go to the bathroom
Bring a signed note from your parent if you are riding home with a friend
Do not go outside the church building or wander through the halls
Do not run or rough house
Please leave all toys at home including computerized games, pocket knives, etc…
Follow good chess etiquette and sportsmanship at all times (congratulate your opponent on his/her win!)
Never degrade or make fun of anyone’s chess abilities
Be courteous to the chess club coordinators, instructors, and parents
Clean up quickly and thoroughly at the end of the club meeting
Take care of all equipment and furniture

Nov 15 OSCO Grand Prix #3 – Grade Championship – Oklahoma University - Norman

Jan 17 OSCO Grand Prix #4 – Tulsa area
Feb 7 OSCO Grand Prix #5 – Lakeside Church of God ( - Norman
Mar 7 OSCO Grand Prix #6– State Scholastic Championship – TCC SE Campus (Our club is hosting this tournament!!!! TCC is providing the facility!)

Tournaments are not required, but they ARE a lot of fun! The cost for tournaments is $15 each to the club organizing the tournament and slightly more for championships. There will be no charge for USCF membership this year!!! Those who have attained Premier Section rating will be provided with a free membership by OSCO. All other players will have their chess games rated through Chess Express without any charge! (http://www.cxrchess.com/) More information will be sent home as we get closer to our tournament dates.
